Akumkumpa
Akumkumpa is a Twi word that translates to ‘’Good Killing’’ in English. This series of paintings presents itself as an instrument in the discussion of the morality surrounding killing and death.
When may one kill another, if ever?
What moralities permit the killing of another? Who may rule the dispensation of death at their whim? What justifications exist? On what grounds is it permissible? What consequences derive? What law, if universal at all, forbids? if any.
In the current world as we live it, so beset with much pain and anguish and deaths resulting from conflicts between nations. These questions are imminent and reflection worthy. The world must re-calibrate moral compasses and tools upon which our various righteous actions are founded.
